Joyce's Story
It's not uncommon to be curious about others careers, after all it tells you much about themselves. To tell people I'm a mascot maker often invokes a curious pause, it's not the corporate answers they often anticipate.
Mascots are an invaluable marketing tool for brands all over the world, including sports teams, schools and countless corporations. You come to know them and love them and they are instantly recognizable. A true sign of effective marketing. But have you ever stopped to think about who makes them? Me. From the ground up I have built and grown a successful mascot company generating mascots for organizations worldwide. From every fuzzy foot to every whisker, I have taken each mascot from concept to reality. The amazing process of bringing someone's brand to life in the form of a wearable mascot costume, will never get old.
As a fashion design graduate I applied my technical skills from my first job with a theatre company making costumes, to making mascot components, learning the intricacies of covering sculpted heads and creating oversized hands and feet. I instantly connected with the level of creativity and unique projects, so from there, I knew it was my path.
To this day, 25 years later, I still love all the creative challenges, they keep me inspired and engaged to do what I do. I have created countless lions, tigers and bears, to beer bottles and basketball players, and even a knee joint! The only limit is your imagination, run with yours and I will build it.
